If they were to totally separate PvP from PvE, then this issue wouldn't exist. All players would have to use a PvP toon for the purposes of PvP. However, I doubt they'll go that far. On the other hand we have, at least, seen them do something about a few of the differences: Lt's Helm, HoD, Bugged 40% axe, 20% Rockmolder. That leads us to hope that eventually we will be able to roll a PvP toon and have 4 weapon slots and 2 sets of armor. Like most things, I will not hold my breath waiting.

One thing they did was make the lt helm available on the character creation screen while nerfing it. Kinda pointless.

The thing is one wont be able to play any class seriously in PVP without grinding it first.

The thing is I like armour swapping - it adds a layer of strategy to swap sup to spike and minor for rest of the time, or swap to minor after being killed and now having DP.

I also like having four weapon sets as a monk and as a warrior or any other charater for that matter. They got to do something about it.

I dont want to grind out a perfect character and then find out I didnt have to either (Thats when they finally fix this). I dont want to grind full stop.

Yes, I am aware of the "fix" they did for the Lt's Helm. I also realize that 2 sets of armor just isn't enough in most cases, but it would be a start.

I realize that you don't want to grind perfect PvP ready characters. It's a huge investment of resources that you could spend actually playing the part of the game that you like to play: PvP. Instead, you are forced into PvE in order to be competitive. If you focus on only one or two classes, you decrease your flexibility as a player. Try to make 6, 8 or 10 PvP-ready PvE characters and you're spreading yourself too thin. Is there an ideal solution? I doubt it. Any solution that would make PvP-only players 100% happy is bound to piss off the legions of (noisier) PvE players. Instead of one grumbling thread at GWGuru, they'll have at least 20 threads spread all over the internet about how Anet "caters to the PvP whiners". I'd love a solution that would level the playing field. For right now, make PvE characters of your favorite, most-played classes and make do on the others with a PvP-toon.

I understand what you are saying - but that means I got to focus on PVE for however long to make my toon. I have a perfect monk for a long time now, a warrior thats 30% there but he takes a lot of effort.

The thing is - I really dont see how a PVE'er smart eneogh to see why armour swapping is necessary at high levels especially with some characters.

Unlock packs are a joke when you still need to grind a PVE character.

it's not (neccessarily) about armor swapping for me, It's about looking as sexy as possible at all times, on all characters. I don't mind the grind as it really isnt' THAT bad, and as I've noted earlier, if you're online you might as well be doing something, and standing in HA isn't exactly my cup of tea.

In the name of "fairness" i can see locking inventories and all that. But as someone who monks often in GvGs, that would just suck. In order to be competitive with the higher ranked guilds, all these little advantages here and there really do add up. Also, maybe this is mean, but is it really that hard to "grind" a pve char to pvp standards? I've done it in a few days. Maybe a monk or warrior is harder to get to par, bu tmany of the midline casters dont need quite as much detail(though I've been tying up loose ends for them too)I also found unlocking skills to go much faster through pve. FOr me, PvE would lose a lot of luster if I had absolutely nothing to do other than make myself look pretty. Collecting Geoffer's Bulwarks for all my casters was a fun little side project that at least a little more use than FoW armor(not going to mention the odd shield collecting for my monk either)... Shouldn't most players run through pve anyhow? I thought it was an easier intro to teh game mechanics. Lastly, and I may be wrong, but i thought the idea of pvp chars was to give players a taste of teh end game experience right away as well as add a place where one could test experimental builds, not to mention free sup vigor runes. PvE gave the nuance, and thus the suttle advantages that players could take if they were perceptive enough.
If they lock inventory I will be deeply saddened as I will have no use for my +10armor vs earth shield. I was really hoping to fight that E/A atershock spike...

True you can grind up a decent PvE character for PvP in a few days (Factions is way faster than Prophesies for this) but that's just a basic build. If you want to have skills available on multiple secondaries, it takes a substantially longer amount of time. When your team needs a clutch build in a cornerstone position, you can either say "gimme a sec I'll roll that" and make a PvP char or "lets do this tomorrow" and cap the skill, get the weapon, craft the armor, etc for your PvEer.

Right now the choice is obvious, you roll a PvPer and play, picking ther armor, runes, and weapon sets that you deem will serve you in the majority of circumstances. And you play with a disadvantage over the PvE characters who can swap those things.

This is more frusterating when those are skills/weapons that you already have on 3 of your existing PvE characters.

No one's claiming this is a game-breaking imbalance. It's actually a testiment to the balance of the game when these are the imbalances we're discussing. But it is an imbalance, nonetheless.
